One More Day
Bless the morning as it opens like a tulip in the sun.
Bless the yawning of the petals when their greening has begun.
Bless the leaning of the branches when the evening shadows come.
Bless the darkness in its sleeping when the quickening is done.
One more day, let there be morning.
One more day, let valleys rise.
One more day, let mountains quiver
as they reach into the skies.
Bless the spider when its weaving is a tapestry of fall.
Bless the possum in its peeking from a safe and sleeping ball.
Bless the eagle in its soaring, bless the lizard in its crawl.
Bless the smallest mite of breathing, bless the largest breath of all.
One more day, let there be laughter.
One more day, let singing rise
One more day let voices quiver
as they lift into the skies.
There's a Calm in the Wind
There's a hush in the din of the days.
There's a hope in the bend of the trees.
When the fire rages on, there's a promise in the flame.
There's a calm in the wind that says your name.
Listen! Listen!
I will hear you in the echo of the night.
I will not despair; I will find you where
the sparrow lifts her broken wing to fly.
